Time:2026-04-02

On the afternoon of March 31, the new generation eco-friendly 82500 DWT bulk carrier “UM KANDA” built by YAMIC for Japanese shipowner departed from the shipyard wharf and started her maiden voyage.

The “UM KANDA” is the first vessel in this series. It measures 229.00m in length, 32.26m in breadth, 20.15m in depth with design draft of 14.40m, and was constructed in accordance with the rules and regulations of NK. The vessel conducted her massive steel cutting on July 7, 2025, and successfully completed its sea trial on March 21, 2026, with all performance indicators better than the design standards.

This series of vessels complies with Tier III emissions standards and features a “Methanol Ready” design, laying the groundwork for the future adoption of alternative fuels and aligning with the shipping industry’s transition toward sustainability. Through major outfitting weight reduction and structural design optimization, the vessel’s cargo capacity was increased by approximately 500 tons while maintaining structural integrity, further enhancing its operational efficiency.

At 9:00 a.m., the “UM KANDA” was successfully delivered via electronic signature. Wish her a safe voyage, a full load and smooth sailing!
