Naming and Delivery of YAMIC First 63200DWT Bulk Carrier “DARYA SATYA”
On 1st March, “DARYA SATYA” (flying the flag of Marshall Islands), the first 63200DWT bulk carrier developed and built by YAMIC for Chellship, was undocked from the shipyard wharf and started her maiden voyage for the operation of the owner's company.
On 29th February, YAMIC and shipowner Chellship jointly held a grand naming and delivery ceremony for this new vessel. Godmother Ms. Shreenidhi Dongre, Chellship representatives Mr. Deepak Dongre, Mr. Rakesh Krishnan, Mr. Debabrata Ghosh, Mr. Yu HaiGang, Mr. Wang Lubo, DNV representative Mr. Shi Yonglin, MBK representatives Mr. Tomohiko Takei, Mr. Zeng Zhaojia, Mr. Takayuki Kanai and Mr. Tian Ye, YAMIC representatives Mr. Song Shuming, Deputy General Manager of YZJ Group and General Manager of YAMIC, Mr. Junichi Ueyama, CFO, Mr. Koji Tamura, COO, Mr. Chen Guoqiang, Deputy General Manager and Mr. Shinichi Nakao, Assistant to the General Manager,as well as other representatives, attended this signing and naming ceremony.
Drums and gongs sounded, dragons and lions danced together, and the naming ceremony began in a joyful atmosphere. Ms. Shreenidhi Dongre, the Godmother, and Mr. Deepak Dongre, the representative of Chellship, performed a traditional Indian blessing ceremony to bless the new vessel with the protection of Ganesha, the elephant-headed goddess, and Varuna, the Hindu god of water.
Mr. Song Shuming delivered a speech on behalf of the shipyard, "The whole construction period of this vessel was about 10 months, including spring festival, and during the construction process, the shipowner, class and shipyard are committed to building a best ship with high quality and good performance, and we firmly believe the subsequent vessel will have better improvements under all the parties dedicated efforts. Today we have reached the important moment of naming this vessel. On this occasion, I would like to express my gratitude to shipowner's site team, and surveyors from DNV for their support and help. At the same time, I would like to thank all YAMIC members who involved in the construction of this vessel. Let us continue to work together, and strive for the target of building more safer, more environmental friendly, and more competitive vessels in global market. We will follow the demands of shipowners and the worldwide market to build every vessel with our sincerity and efforts.”
On behalf of the shipowner, Mr. Deepak Dongre said, "On behalf of Mr. Lal Chellaram, the Chairman, I would like to express my gratitude to YAMIC, DNV Classification and construction supervision team for their efforts in the construction of this new vessel. Chellship is committed to environmental sustainability with a focus on green shipping. The DARYA SATYA is also fuel efficient and environmentally friendly with advanced energy saving equipments. Today's traditional Indian blessing ceremony, which we call puja, christened the birth of the vessel, in the Hindi pu meaning pure and auspicious and ja meaning birth. The name "DARYA SATYA" means "Sea of Truth" and we welcome her as the 22nd vessel in our fleet.”
The Godmother, Ms. Shreenidhi Dongre named the ship "DARYA SATYA" and kncoked the champagne with a toast. Firecrackers and fireworks went off, whistles sounded, dragons and lions danced together. Wish the new vessel and its crews to sail safely, bringing honour and wealth to the shipowner.
"DARYA SATYA" was built under the DNV classification. The vessel cut the first plate on April 28, 2023, was keel laid on October 7, 2023, launched on December 4, 2023, and successfully completed the sea trial on February 2, 2024, with a construction period of about 10 months.
On February 29, Mr. Deepak Dongre, Mr. Song Shuming and Mr. Junichi Ueyama signed the delivery documents of DARYA SATYA on behalf of all parties in the presence of representatives of all parties. Wish her a smooth and safe voyage.
