YAMIC First 29800DWT Great Lakes Self-Unloading Bulk Carrier "ALGOMA BEAR" Delivery

Loong soaring and tiger leaping to start work, with full enthusiasm and determination, YAMIC is embarking on the new journey.

On February 18th, first working day after the Chinese New Year holiday of the year of the Loong, the 29,800DWT Great Lakes Self-Unloading Bulk Carrier "ALGOMA BEAR" (flying the Canadian flag) built by YAMIC for the Canadian shipowner ALGOMA, sailed smoothly and started her new journey.

"ALGOMA BEAR" is the first self-unloading bulk carrier built by YAMIC, which adopts the design of single engine, single propeller and double rudders, and is equipped with closed loop scrubber system, low resistance paint, energy management and performance monitoring system, and fuel-saving system. This vessel can satisfy the special requirements for the UMS and Great Lakes navigation, and has the features of flexible handling, energy saving and environmental protection, high automation, and high cargoes unloading capability. The vessel measures 225.53m in length, 23.77m in breadth, 14.25m in depth with design draft of 8.15m, and was built in accordance with the rules and regulations of LR. 

Under the full cooperation and mutual support of Algoma, JBL Tech Service site team, LR, shipyard and other parties, the massive steel cutting was conducted on December 6, 2022, keel laying on June 16, 2023, launching on September 4, 2023 and successfully completed the sea trial on December 25, 2023, with a total production time of about 14 months.

On February 6, YAMIC and ALGOMA jointly held the signing and delivery ceremony for "ALGOMA BEAR" in the presence of representatives of all parties. We sincerely wish her smooth sailing and prosperity for all parties involved.
