On 12th August, the third new generation eco-friendly 50000DWT MR tanker “JAL KALP”built by YAMIC for Singaporean shipowner departed from the shipyard wharf and started her maiden voyage.

The “JAL KALP” measures 183.00m in length, 32.30m in breadth, 19.10m in depth with design draft of 11.00m. The whole construction period of vessel was about 10.5 months, the vessel conducted her massive steel cutting in late September 2024, and successfully completed her sea trial in early July 2025, with all performance indicators better than the design standards. 

On 6th August, YAMIC held a grand naming ceremony for the vessel. The godmother, Ms. Zhang Xinhang, General Manager of the Shipping Department of Jiangsu Financial, the naming sponsor, Ms. Sun Wen of North Cape, Mr. Zhou Baiqing, Chairman of Jiangsu Financial, Mr. V.C. Bothra, Executive Director of JALDHI, Mr. Suresh Kumar, CEO of JALDHI, Mr. Richard Welch, Foreign Shipowner Technical Support Manager of LR, Mr. Song Shuming, Deputy General Manager of YZJ Group and CEO of YAMIC, as well as representatives from all cooperation parties and employees, attended the naming ceremony.

The godmother, Ms. Zhang Xinhang named the new vessel “JAL KALP”, and then the naming Sponsor, Ms. Sun Wen, cut the string and tossed the champagne for the new vessel. Firecrackers and fireworks went off, whistles sounded. Ms. Zhang Xinhang expressed her heartfelt gratitude to all the personnel involved in the construction of the ship. It is their hard work that has facilitated the smooth delivery of this vessel. May this vessel bring safety and happiness to all crew members, success and wealth to the shipowner, and honour to LR and YAMIC.

Mr. Song Shuming delivered a speech on behalf of YAMIC:

This vessel is the third customized MR tanker built by YAMIC for JALDHI, and also the fifth vessel we have delivered to JALDHI. I would like to sincerely thank Mr. Bothra, Mr. Suresh, Mr. Unni, Mr. Paritosh for their support in this project, and the entire JALDHI site team leading by Mr. Sunil for their contributions during the construction process. At the same time, our appreciation also extends to class LR, and every YAMIC employee involved in this project. Thank you all for your dedication, expertise, and hard work. YAMIC is committed to working closely with all partners to develop and build more safer, greener, high-performance ships for our respected clients.

Mr. Suresh Kumar delivered a speech on behalf of the buyers:

I would like to take this opportunity to express my sincere gratitude to our on-site team, project team, and YAMIC team. It is through the close cooperation and collaborative efforts of everyone that this high-quality vessel has been successfully delivered. In every delivery, we can clearly see continuous improvement. This is not our first collaboration with YAMIC, so I have also gained a deeper appreciation for their ongoing enhancement in shipbuilding quality. We look forward to seeing this excellent standard maintained throughout the construction of the entire series of vessels.
