On March 28th, the new generation eco-friendly 50000DWT MR tanker “JAL PRERANA” built by YAMIC for Singaporean shipowner departed from the shipyard wharf and started her maiden voyage.

“JAL PRERANA” is a new type of eco-friendly MR tanker customized by YAMIC according to shipowner’s demand. This vessel combines an optimized hull design with a high-efficiency propulsion system, flexible cargo handling, and environmental protection. Its EEDI phase is among the leading-tier in the MR tanker market. This vessel successfully completed her sea trial in February 2025, with all performance indicators better than the design standards. 

At 10:30 AM, YAMIC held a grand naming ceremony for the vessel. Ms. Puja Bothra, the Godmother, Ms. Prerana Mikkilineni, Sponsor Lady, Mr. V.C.Bothra, Executive Director of JALDHI, CEO Mr. Suresh Kumar, Mr. Dimitrios Chalas, Foreign Ship-Owners Team Manager, Greater China of LR, Mr. Song Shuming, Deputy General Manager of YZJ Group and CEO of YAMIC, Mr. Koji Tamura, COO of YAMIC, Mr. Yuji Ishimaru, CFO of YAMIC, Mr. Chen Guoqiang, Vice President of YAMIC, Mr. Shinichi Nakao, CMO of YAMIC, Mr. Yang Lifeng, Assistant to the General Manager of YAMIC, as well as representatives from all cooperation parties and employees, attended the naming ceremony.

The godmother, Ms. Puja Bothra named the new vessel “JAL PRERANA”, and then the Sponsor Lady, Ms. Prerana Mikkilineni, cut the string and tossed the champagne for the new vessel. Wish the new vessel safe and smooth voyages, bringing good luck, creating wealth to the buyers, earning honor for LR and YAMIC.

Mr. Song Shuming delivered a speech,

“YAMIC is committed to build more safer, greener, high-performance ships for our respected clients. We express our gratitude to Mr. V.C.Bothra, Mr. Suresh Kumar for their trust. Our appreciation also extends to the entire JALDHI site team, Class-LR, and every YAMIC employee for their contribution to the delivery of this vessel.”

Mr. Suresh Kumar delivered a speech on behalf of the buyers,

“It is our great honor to jointly witness the successful delivery of the first MR tanker ‘JAL PRERANA’ with YAMIC. We sincerely appreciate the YAMIC team for their consistent support in management, production, and design optimization during the shipbuilding process, which has enabled the completion of this modern and high-tech vessel. Our gratitude also extends to the classification society for their professional support and to the onsite team for their diligent efforts. With multiple delivery projects scheduled for this year, we look forward to maintaining our productive collaboration to build more high-quality vessels together.”
